Employment and Self Employment Opportunities in
Holyrood: Current and Future
The overall purpose of the study was to find the ways and means to
stimulate growth in the Town. The study was subdivided into the
following eight objectives.
Develop a demographic profile of Holyrood;
Identify opportunities of employment and/or
growth with current employers;
Identify new sectors within the community
that have the potential for growth;
Identify employment and self employment
opportunities for youth;
Review factors that have an impact on
employment and self-employment opportunities;
Review the Town’s previous Economic Development
Strategy (1988) to identify potential areas within the plan that
point to employment/self employment opportunities
Garner input from stakeholders; and
Compile the findings into a report.

Effective date - May 2nd, 1995
Holyrood Council has introduced a policy to allow a tax reduction
of 50% on business tax for new businesses up to a maximum of 3
years. existing businesses wishing to physically expand their
business will be given a 3 year 100% business tax exemption on the
expansion only. These reductions or exemptions have to be
individually approved by Council and all other taxes will sill
apply.

consider your eligibility under this policy.
